Prices doubled in the RENEW area between 2000 and 2007, but they have not improved as a proportion of the West Midlands average during this period.

Values were around half the regional average at £72,000 in 2007.

Incomes have increased much more slowly than house prices, leading to affordability becoming an increasing issue.

RENEW’s residents’ survey in 2007 showed that cost is a significant barrier to moving home. Affordability is particularly important for residents affected by clearance.
