The school was featured in The Sentinel newspaper when it was ranked 8th in England for the progress pupils were making between the ages of seven and 11.  The Abbey Hulton area is being regenerated by RENEW North Staffordshire. The housing market in this neighbourhood has improved in recent years, but the area continues to have high levels of social deprivation and remains vunerable.
