Boarded-up properties in Lilac Close, Coalville, in September 2005. The former Coal Board housing estate of Coalville is being transformed under the £55 million Weston Heights regeneration scheme. This involves the demolition of 254 of the old homes, which are being replaced with nearly 300 new homes for outright sale, shared ownership and rent.

I will be glad to go. It’s not a nice place to live... There’s no community left here any more.
