RENEW North Staffordshire redeveloping buildings in Hanley 2007
Region: Hanley

This picture of Cleveland House, Hanley, was taken in November 2007. The building housed businesses which employed 63 people and the companies were threatened with eviction after developers put in plans to turn the site, along with the former Just Mugs factory, into flats. The site was bought by RENEW North Staffordshire and redeveloped as business units, safeguarding the futures of the businesses. The project was seen as the symbolic beginning of the proposed 'Business Quarter'. Pictured, left to right, are Paul Rushton, Sean Canavan, Ken Simpson and Alan Muse.

I want to see the residents of this area having a voice and RENEW to take account of their views.

I will be glad to go. It’s not a nice place to live... There’s no community left here any more.
