Thorley Pub, Meir

Thorley pub, Meir on demolition day
Region: Meir

A former drug-den pub on a housing estate being knocked down as part of a £5.5 million regeneration scheme. Families had been campaigning to have the Thorley pub in Meir knocked down for years. RENEW North Staffordshire bought the derelict building from Punch Taverns.

I want to see the residents of this area having a voice and RENEW to take account of their views.

I will be glad to go. It’s not a nice place to live... There’s no community left here any more.
