Burslem Park (May 2006)

Moorpark Junior School pupils at work on a mural, May 2006
Region: Burslem Park

Pupils at Moorpark Junior School in Park Road, Burslem, brighten up the entrance to the school with a colourful, 30-metre long, Lowry-style mural. Seen here with city council community artist Chris Guest are some of the pupils who conrtibuted to the work in May 2006 as the school benefitted from a £43,000 makeover courtesy of RENEW North Staffordshire. The money was spent on refurbishment of the school’s ornate railings, installation of a large, bespoke set of entrance gates depicting local images of the local area and a completely redesigned playground – providing a ball games area, a low climbing wall with footholds and handholds, a shaded seating area and new play equipment.

I will be glad to go. It’s not a nice place to live... There’s no community left here any more.

I want to see the residents of this area having a voice and RENEW to take account of their views.
