Shelton (November 2007)

£2 million revamp of 332 homes in Shelton, Hanley and Etruria (Nov 07)
Region: Shelton

Arthur Garside (centre), a resident of Shelton is seen with construction workers from Seddon and at the rear, Nick Newman from RENEW North Staffordshire (left). Arthur's home benefitted when work was carried out on 332 terraced houses in the Harley Street, Hazlehurst Street, Parkhouse Street, Belmont Road and Chatham Street areas of Hanley, Shelton and Etruria as part of RENEW North Staffordshire’s work to improve run-down neighbourhoods. The £2 million scheme, which was managed by Beth Johnson Housing Association, officially started on November 19, 2007. Front windows, doors, porch canopies and boundary walls were repaired or replaced. Work was also done on paintwork, masonry and gutters.

I want to see the residents of this area having a voice and RENEW to take account of their views.

I will be glad to go. It’s not a nice place to live... There’s no community left here any more.
