Etruria (2004)

Jeff Rooker, regeneration minister in Etruria 2004
Region: Etruria

A £500,000 project to update and improve terraced housing helped to breathe new life into a Stoke-on-Trent community. Regeneration Minister Jeff Rooker visited Etruria in November 2004 to meet people who have benefited from the improvements made possible by RENEW North Staffordshire. In the first housing project to be completed by Renew, 46 homes in Cavour Street, Etruscan Street and Etruria Old Road were given a facelift, including new roofs, windows, doors and boundary walls. Mr Rooker is pictured with members of the RENEW team and elected Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent Mike Wolfe in the Etruria Methodist Chapel in November 2004.

I want to see the residents of this area having a voice and RENEW to take account of their views.
Steven Pritchard, Cobridge
I will be glad to go. It’s not a nice place to live... There’s no community left here any more.
