Rowan Village Resident Mary Flanagan with support worker Richard Hough, November 2008. Rowan Village, Staffordshire Housing Association's 'extra care' complex in Meir, won the 'meeting housing needs and aspirations' category at the 2008 UK Housing Awards. Criteria for shortlisting included partnership working, innovation in meeting housing needs, and partnership working. The scheme was funded by Staffordshire Housing Association, Stoke-on-Trent City Council, the Department of Health Extra Care Housing Fund, The Housing Corporation, West Midlands Strategic Health Authority, Stoke-on-Trent Primary Care Trust, and RENEW North Staffordshire. Accord Housing provides care and support services on-site.

I will be glad to go. It’s not a nice place to live... There’s no community left here any more.
