A living art gallery unveiled in Bucknall New Road (January 2009)

A 'living art gallery' was unveiled in Bucknall New Road, Stoke-on-Trent, in January 2009. Stories and images from residents in the area were displayed as part of a community arts project. The 'gallery' was created by community arts organisation Glassball. Instead of buildings being boarded-up, pictures, stories, and mementos from the community were displayed on buildings. The project was funded by RENEW North Staffordshire, the Homes and Communities Agency and Beth Johnson Housing Association. Our picture shows Tom Morgan, aged 10, from St. Luke's Primary School, artist Cora Glasser, of Glassball community arts group, and Amreua Khan, aged eight, from Waterside Primary, pictured in front of the 'gallery'.

I will be glad to go. It’s not a nice place to live... There’s no community left here any more.

It looks absolutely brilliant, as good as a new house! It makes me feel proud to live here.
