The Blurton estate is a priority suburban estate within the RENEW North Staffordshire area.

In 2005 a masterplan was developed with the local community and key stakeholders, which identified a range of initiatives which would contribute to the sustainability of the local housing market.

Since 2007 Stoke-on-Trent City Council's Neighbourhood Renewal Team, working with the local community steering group and its partner agencies, has been working on a variety of projects as a part of the city council’s annual £1 million Suburban Estates Investment programme.

These include:

  • Off-road parking schemes completed in Magdalene Road and Barlaston Road
  • The refurbishment of local shops on Wimbourne Avenue
  • Works on the Mill Pond to elevate flooding of nearby properties and to improve the general environment.
  • New bungalows have been built to provide modern accommodation for older persons

I want to see the residents of this area having a voice and RENEW to take account of their views.

It looks absolutely brilliant, as good as a new house! It makes me feel proud to live here.
